PensionBee, received a high commendation accolade at the 22nd annual UK Pensions Awards.
Last night PensionBee received a highly commended accolade at the prestigious UK Pensions Awards 2019. The online pension provider was praised for its high level of innovation, in the DC Innovation of the Year category. The commendation recognised PensionBee’s efforts to help fix the UK’s long-term savings crisis with its use of industry-leading technology. It is the first pension provider to utilise Open APIs in pensions, partnering with fintechs such as Yolt, Starling, Moneyhub, Money Dashboard and Emma, to integrate PensionBee balances into some of the UK’s most popular money management apps.
This achievement comes in the same week that PensionBee and Starling announced a further integration of their products, making it possible for Starling customers to seamlessly combine all their old pensions into a new PensionBee plan in just a few clicks. Since the launch of their exciting industry-leading partnership last year, the two fintech companies have been working to enhance their 2-way API integration through the development of new features, using Open Banking technology. In time, other new product features will become available, such as direct payments from bank accounts into a PensionBee pension without leaving the Starling bank mobile app.
Romi Savova, CEO at PensionBee commented: “We’re pleased to receive a special commendation in this category as we truly believe Open Banking has the potential to be hugely transformative for savers in the UK. Millions of people struggle to stay on top of their day to day finances, so the arrival of integrations that help us unlock spending data, see a complete picture of our financial health, make our money work better and for longer, and empower us to make smarter financial choices, is revolutionary.
We plan to share our APIs with even more banking marketplaces and aggregators in the near-future to put pensions where they belong – at the forefront of your finances. This is a game-changer for the pensions industry and we’re proud to be the driving force behind rising consumer expectations that a pension is part of Open Banking, while setting the API data standards for pension companies to integrate into the ecosystem going forward.”
PensionBee is also shortlisted for Best Customer Service and Best Money App at the Times, Sunday Times and Boring Money Consumer Investment Awards. It is shortlisted for the Diversity and Inclusion Champion Award at the Computing Tech Marketing and Innovation Awards and is a finalist in three award categories at the Investment Marketing and Innovation Awards, including the Open Innovation Award. PensionBee is up against Twitter for the accolade of Tech Company of the Year at the Evening Standard Business Awards, while PensionBee CEO Romi Savova has been shortlisted for six awards at this year’s Women in Pensions Awards.
