Colleagues at work.

Leading online pension provider, PensionBee joins the Association of British Insurers’ (ABI) Making Flexible Work Charter, with the aim to increase flexible working opportunities across the insurance and long-term savings industry.

Signatories of the Charter agree to fulfil three key commitments within 12 months, including publishing the details of flexible working policies for employees or prospective candidates and advertising the majority of roles as being open to flexible working, including part-time work. Companies that sign the Charter are also committed to implementing processes and guidance to support and promote different forms of flexible working, including job sharing where it makes sense to do so.

By undertaking these actions, signatories aim to attract and retain the very best talent from all backgrounds, unlocking career opportunities for disabled people and supporting more women to progress into senior roles.

This is the second ABI Charter that PensionBee has supported, having been an early signatory of the Transparent Parental Leave and Pay Initiative in 2019. This aims to ensure transparent, easily accessible information on parental leave and pay policies across the industry.

As an accredited Living Wage employer and a signatory of the Women in Finance Charter, the Race at Work Charter, and the Social Mobility Pledge, PensionBee strives to build a fair and inclusive workplace where every employee feels able to succeed as themselves. The company has already embraced flexible working geographically, with all employees able to work from home full-time, should they wish.

Romi Savova, CEO of PensionBee, commented: “All companies have a duty to provide supportive working environments, and the wider adoption of flexible working practices is a crucial part of this.

We know that a lack of flexibility can present a significant challenge for some workers and prevent them from entering or returning to the workforce in a full capacity. Not only does this limit career progression, but ultimately it also impacts one’s ability to build up a sizeable pension pot over their lifetime.

Promoting reasonable flexibility throughout the PensionBee team has allowed us to build a group of incredibly diverse people, which I’m immensely proud of.”

Yvonne Braun, Executive Sponsor for Diversity and Inclusion at the Association of British Insurers, said:“Embedding flexible working practices across our industry is key to accessing the full range of talent in society and addressing the long-standing issue of women’s careers stagnating once they have had children.

We’re delighted that PensionBee has signed our Making Flexible Work Charter. By signing up, PensionBee has demonstrated a real commitment to creating a more diverse workforce and tackling the gender seniority gap.
