Creating a future of financial freedom

Our customers have unique plans for their ideal retirement, whether purchasing homes close to their children, travelling around the world or simply living without any financial worries.

Whatever their aspirations, they all need enough income to cover their living expenses in later life. Yet for far too long consumers have struggled to manage their retirement savings. Pensions are often complicated, presenting a significant obstacle for consumers wanting to take control of their money. In addition, many of us have no idea what we have saved, or how our pension is being managed.

This is where PensionBee can help. Our technology platform makes it easy for customers to combine their pensions into one diversified online plan, so they can take the first step towards financial freedom. We create pension calculators and retirement forecasting tools to help our customers plan ahead, enabling them to build a clearer picture about what they should be contributing. Then, when they reach the age of 55, we make it simple for our savers to make on-demand and appropriate withdrawals.

Elsewhere, we’re committed to helping consumers navigate the wider pension ecosystem. We fight against pension scams wherever we find them, and we’re leading the campaign for an industry-wide commitment to a pension switch guarantee. These efforts, combined with our market-leading product, will help our customers become financially free.

Helping our customers achieve good health

Good physical and mental health can have a huge impact on the happiness of later life, and we believe that pensions have a significant role to play in the achievement of both.

Ultimately, we want our customers to be "pension confident". That’s why we’re committed to making pensions simple and engaging, so people save more into their retirement and can enjoy bigger pensions for longer. This, we believe, should have a positive impact on our customers’ mental health.

In addition, we’re conscious of the environmental impact we can have as a leading pension company, and intend to use our influence to build a healthier future - for our customers and the planet. Central to this is our offering of sustainable investment options, in the shape of our Fossil Fuel Free and Future World Plans.

Studies from academics, industry bodies and corporations suggest that sustainable investments can yield greater returns, while investing in oil and tobacco producers can bring more risk. For these companies government action (whether through outright bans or taxes), civil lawsuits and adverse media coverage are all very real threats, and by offering an alternative we intend to enhance our customers' wealth, as well as their physical and mental wellbeing.

Sowing the seeds for social inclusion

We built PensionBee to help people from all backgrounds save for retirement and overcome the barriers that still exist in the pensions system.

There is little formal financial education in the UK’s schools, and over the course of their lives not all people have the same exposure to financial concepts. As a result, many people struggle to navigate the pensions system as adults. By designing and building our product in recognition of these realities, we seek to help our customers overcome these educational barriers.

Central to building this inclusive product is creating an inclusive company, so we’re committed to achieving workplace diversity. We’re an advocate for gender equality and have already achieved over 50% female representation across our entire workforce, as well as 57% across our senior management team. The female representation on our Board is currently 50%.

Research indicates that companies with above average diversity generate higher innovation revenues, and that a more equal proportion of women in management directly leads to improved financial returns, whilst efforts to include, nurture and progress employees from all backgrounds can translate into higher engagement, lower attrition and ultimately a better, more profitable business.
